VILDE CHAYES

Solo Exhibition, The Heder Gallery, Tel Aviv, 2002

A series of images portraying animals that pose as "large abstracts" in which they conceal themselves. Most or all of the paper is submitted to monotone and monochromatic area filling, so that "the unit" constructing the painting is a sort of a "void" or an "empty sign", whose multiplicity or repetition is gathered into a full, or to be more precise, filled, image. The identification of the image is supposed to be conducted through a process of negation, striving to reach the state of being perceived while simultaneously slipping away.
